About Us and Magpie Cottage

Magpie Cottage was created in 1986 when a disused farm cottage from Waimiha was relocated on to its present site at 37 Rangaroa Road Taumarunui.

After reclocation the property was renovated including the addition of a covered deck on the front-north-facing side of the cottage.

In 2009 and Sandra and Martin Fuller were looking for a forever home in Taumarunui and had seen everything else on the market before seeing the  property. Martin and  Sandra looked through the French windows into the open lounge dining kitchen area with polished Matai flooring and in the blink of an eye Sandra looked at Martin and smiled. The cottage was elevated, had a semi-rural outlook, open plan lounge, family, dining and kitchen area and was authentic to its original style. “Just what we were looking for” said Sandra to Martin – and so the deed was done.

Later in 2009 Sandra and Martin did further renovations to the property including modernising the bathroom and kitchen to their satisfaction.

Regretfully Sandra passed away in April 2023. A year after Sandra had passed Martin opened the cottage up as a home stay and bed and breakfast and now carries on so what you see today reflects the vision and spirit of what they both set out to achieve.

In essence, our first priority is your comfort and enjoyment.
